Is that a harsh thing to say?? Probably… but that doesn’t take away from the truth of the matter either.
In today’s blog post I am going to give you part 1 of a series that is geared towards increasing your personal productivity to baller status so grab a pen and paper…
You’re going to want to take notes on this:
Personal Productivity – Is the 80/20 Rule All It’s Cracked Up To Be?
Many people out there are familiar with the Pareto Principle or commonly known as the 80/20 Rule. This rule states that 20% of causes create 80% of the results.
Now most folks out there believe that if this rule is the end all be all of the truth they should only concentrate on the 20% of the activities that are bringing in 80% of the results.
The issue with that is that most people take more time in trying to figure out which 20% of their work creates those results to the point that it actually defeats the purpose.
Rather than focusing on the exact perfect thing to do in your business… why not just get more stuff done which will in turn equal out to a greater overall personal productivity level.
Of course you will need to have a general idea of what is it that actually creates income in your business but if you are direct sales or networking that is pretty easy and I can tell you that right now:
1. Making sales
2. Sponsoring new people into your business
3. Team production
Personal Productivity – So What’s The Answer?
So if the answer isn’t to nitpick what you are “going to do” to death before actually taking action… how do you increase your Personal Productivity?
The answer lies in something called Parkinson’s Law which states:
Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.
Why is this law so important you might ask? You see most networkers I know start their day and they wonder what they are going to be doing that day in order to create success in their business.
They wonder what their blog post is going to be about….
They wonder if they are going to make a video that day….
They wonder if they are going to put out some paid marketing….
They wonder how many people they are going to speak to on Facebook…
Contrast this to a professional networker who has their week planned out in advance knowing what they will be doing at every point in their money making hours.
Personal Productivity – Deadlines Are God’s Way Of Creating Ninjas
How we combat the effects of Parkinson’s Law and actually take advantage of it is by setting deadlines within our schedule.
First we take a money producing activity such as writing a blog post.
Then we brake that process down into steps such as:
1. subject matter
2. keyword research (if applicable)
4. call to action
We then figure out approximately how long this should take us. For more experienced bloggers this might take as little as 15-20 minutes while others will need 30-45 minutes or so.
Whatever the time frame you have given yourself make sure that you do not go over that time frame no matter what.
This will train your mind to think faster and execute more efficiently because it knows that you will be publishing the content that is prepared within the deadline period no matter if it is great content or if it isn’t so hot.
To Sum Up This Personal Productivity Training
If we understand that anything which isn’t scheduled has a very high likelihood of not being done then it’s an easy task to grab a scheduler at the local office supply store or simply use your smart phone and schedule in your income producing activities on a daily basis.
By sticking to this personal productivity schedule and implementing religiously you will be ahead of 95%+ of the marketing population out there and your results will show it.
